The following chart depicts the eight organic energetic position patterns published in 1974 after myriad clinical trials – which came to be termed as ‘constitutions’.
PULMOTONIA Lung > Spleen >> Heart > Kidney > Liver
HEPATONIA Lung < Spleen << Heart < Kidney < Liver
PANCREATONIA Spleen > Heart >> Liver > Lung > Kidney
RENOTONIA Spleen < Heart << Liver < Lung < Kidney
COLOTONIA L. Intestine > Bladder > Stomach >> S. Intestine > Bladder
CHOLECYSTONIA L. Intestine < Bladder < Stomach << S. Intestine < Bladder
GASTROTONIA Stomach > L. Intestine > S. Intestine >> Gall Bladder > Bladder
VESICOTONIA Stomach < L. Intestine < S. Intestine << Gall Bladder < Bladder
Let us briefly touch on Pulmotonia Constitution.
As the chart indicates, Pulmotonian and Hepatonian are polar opposite in their nature. Pultomonians are born with relatively stronger lung and relatively weaker liver. Common misconception among laypeople is that having a ‘strong’ lung means that the lung is impervious to illnesses. But this is not so – having a ‘strong’ lung in the sense defined by 8 Constitution Medicine could be likened to wielding a double-edged sword. If well catered, Pulotonian’s lung will serve its master well. If not, his lung would be stimulated to overact, or to run out of control, so to speak. This increases by far the chance of falling pretty to respiratory diseases, skin illnesses, and thyroid and immune system disorders. A constitution is meant to be in the innate balanced-imbalance of energetic positions between organs. Environmental and other factors, however, could tip off this balance by deepening the degree of the inter-organic energetic difference, spinning the wheel of orderliness out of its trajectory. The imbalance thus caused fatefully manifests into tangible physical disorders.
